Presented by the Chicago Literacy Alliance

Confabs have always been a space for Alliance members to convene, discuss, and network to keep pushing literacy forward. This year, we’re shifting focus to explore Alliance impact across Chicago.

Chicago Community Confabs create opportunities for authentic connection and a deeper understanding between CLA members and communities facing barriers to literacy resources.

Over the last year, the CLA has been researching literacy access and the opportunity gap among Chicago’s neighborhoods. In each Confab, we’ll highlight one of Chicago’s communities, working with community members to learn about community history, barriers to literacy, opportunities for collaboration, and more.

As a follow-up to Chicago Community Confabs, the Chicago Literacy Alliance is hosting virtual Action Group sessions. These Action Groups are an opportunity for Alliance members and Community members to dive deep into discussion and action planning that address identified needs through collaborative community-centered design. Action Groups will consist of community members from the highlighted neighborhood and Alliance members who are invited to participate.

More neighborhoods will be added soon – but be sure to add to your calendar!
