Chicago Community Confabs: Understanding Englewood

Presented by the Chicago Literacy Alliance

Chicago Community Confabs create opportunities for authentic connection and a deeper understanding between Alliance members and communities facing barriers to literacy resources.

This January, we will be learning more about the Englewood community.

During this virtual session, you will:

  • Learn about the history of Englewood and its present day realities
  • Understand how Englewood celebrates literacy
  • Identify Englewood’s barriers to literacy and opportunities for support and collaboration
  • Learn more about CLA members currently serving Englewood

All are welcome to join the conversation!

The conversation will be led by community members including photographer and social justice artist Tonika Johnson, Brown Books and Paintbrushes founder Candice M. Washington, Dr. Martin Luther King Academy of Social Justice principal Jasmine L. Thurmond, and more.
