Literacy Nights

Literacy Nights are a signature program of the Chicago Literacy Alliance.

These events, which have helped thousands of people discover the wide range of literacy support activities in Chicago, can be held at schools, community centers, or any other family-friendly venue.

At Literacy Nights, multiple Chicago Literacy Alliance member organizations provide 2-3 hours’ worth of student programming in reading, writing, and literacy activities as well as books to take home, resource sharing for parents and families, and program introductions for teachers and staff.
Participating organizations vary for each event but always include programs for both children and adults.

Thank you so much for a magnificent Family Literacy Night! Your involvement with our school families helped so much to celebrate literacy.  I am confident that their experiences with all of you tonight will reinvigorate literacy in their homes and transform many of our reluctant readers into readers thirsty for more! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We just wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for making our Family Literacy Night a huge success!  It was wonderful to see families filling boxes and stuffing bags with books. Parents loved the workshops. Children had fun. It was great.
