The Chicago Literacy Alliance offers a slate of professional development programs for members and the public.
From weekly lunch sessions through intensive cohort training, we foster growth for and in the literacy sector.
Literaskills sessions are 2-hour trainings featuring deep-dive presentations on hot topics in literacy programming, led by member organizations and outside experts.
Sessions are free for CLA members and $10 for the general public, and run from 5:30 – 7:30pm on the last Thursday of each month.

Literacircles are weekly meetups organized by job role to provide support, resource sharing, and best practice benchmarking discussions. Current Literacircle group foci include executive, development, communications, operations, volunteer management, program management, and interns.
Sessions are free for CLA members and run from 12noon – 1:00pm on Tuesdays.
Literaleaders is an intensive cohort experience for upcoming leaders in the literacy sector. Over the course of several months, participants identify their strengths, needs, and interests, gain understanding of executive roles, and form deep connections with one another to bolster continued development.
CLA members are entitled to free Literaleaders enrollments commensurate with their membership level.
Literaleaders Cohort II is now in session (January-June 2017).
